Wires

Ok, attached is my current set up, and the wires associated with it.

I need to order some shorter wires though.

My question is, what do you guys do to combat this, especially since i have an open console that everything is on.

I pretend they are not there. Some people use zip ties or a split cover for them or even trash bag ties.

I tried to keep order on my cables, but I'm constantly plugging and unplugging stuff and moving things around that I gave up. I'd cable tie things and then a week later have to cut them. I say chaos is a beautiful thing. Introduce a little anarchy, upset the established order.

That is me in a nutshell. Papa Iggy won't won't let me forget about that and no i wont clean my room like you asked 4-5 years ago. I have tried a few zip ties, but i didn't notice too much of a difference

I would first go through it all and see if you can get some hdmi's in there to replace many of them. Then I'd make sure that every remaining wire/cable is really needed. Like what I think is your antenna coax? Getting shorter cables would help as well, like you said. Monoprice is good place for decent, inexpensive cables.

Lastly, I would just rewire everything in the best order you can so that overlapping/crisscrossing is at a minimum. And velcro ties like J' said are nice but I will admit to using garbage bag ties myself.

My problem (and solution) exactly.

I know the first step is shorter cables, I just hate the long power cords for the surge protectors and other components (games esp) i hate how nothing is retractable or shorter. and I guess velcro straps are the way to go, I shortened up a bunch of the cables but it still seems unsightly if you ask me.

But none the less i appreciate the help!
